Brighton Rock
(2010)
Filmgate are pleased to announce that work has been completed on "Brighton Rock". Adapted from Graham Greene's classic novel, this represents Rowan Joffe's directorial debut and is simply one of the most eagerly anticipated productions from the UK for 2010. The cast is headed by Academy Award-winning Helen Mirren, as well as John Hurt, Sam Riley and Andrea Riseborough. For this production Filmgate were asked to recreate the environment of 1960's Brighton. This work included set extensions, retouching and painting away of modern environments, crowd duplication scars, a 3D-face, bullet-holes, 3D-tracking and buildings in complicated anamorphic images, as well as challenging roto with 150 Vespas!
The Film was produced by Paul Webster (Kudos Film & Television) and was the directorial debut of Writer / Director Rowan Joffe ("A Very Private Gentleman", "28 Weeks Later"). Joffe's aim was to adapt this famous English novel from its 1940's environment and make it as contemporary as possible by setting it in the 60', "the story feels modern and too alive, vibrant and relevant to be contained in the late thirties".
This was Filmgate's 7th UK production and was by far one of the most challenging to date.
