Krakatoa - The Last Days
(2006)
The BBC was pleased to enlist Filmgate’s expertise for their latest
docu-drama Krakatoa – The Last Days. We were asked to create the title
sequence, and were called on to tackle a compositing and animation task
at the last minute – the dramatic drowning of a mother and her two
children during a devastating tsunami. Though the jobs were brief, the
BBC was pleased with the results, and Filmgate looks forward to working
with them again in the future.
Krakatoa – The Last Days depicts the violent eruption of Krakatoa
that took place in 1883, killing 36,000 people and unleashing a series
of terrifying tsunamis. This spectacular docu-drama, starring Olivia
Williams and Rupert Penry-Jones, uses eyewitness accounts to tell the
true story of one of the most destructive volcanic eruptions in
history.
The program was aired in the UK on May 7 at 9:00pm, BBC1.
