Upp till Kamp (How Soon Is Now?)
(2007)
Upp Till Kamp is a four-part mini series filmed for SVT, chronicling
the lives of four young friends in Gothenburg during pop music’s
heyday, 1965 – 1976. A dramatised document of an era marked as much by
political ideals and revolution as by the music, Upp Till Kamp will
follow these four youths through ten years of relationships, political
awakenings and an ever-changing society. First and foremost, however,
it will be a story of love, friendship and rebellion – and a whole
lotta music!
Director Mikael Marcimain - acclaimed for recent series Graven and
Lasermannen - and screenwriter Peter Birro have pooled their talents to
create a drama as true to the time as possible. Rather than apply a
mere nostalgic gloss of peace signs and hash pipes, Marcimain wants to
recreate the look and feel of 1960s Gothenburg – and this is where
Filmgate comes into play. Götafilm enlisted Filmgate for the creation
of realistic set extensions, complete digital environments, a
photo-real ocean liner and seamless melding of footage with
computer-generated effects, which will transport the streets and clubs
of our fair city back 40 years in time. Filmgate was responsible for
the visual effects supervision and completed over 200 visual effects
shots for Upp till Kamp.
